Hypovolemic shock in postpartum hemorrhage: use of non-pneumatic anti-shock garment and nursing role
Keywords:
shock, nursing, postpartum hemorrhageAbstract
The aim of this research is to highlight the importance of using Non-Pneumatic Anti-Shock (Nasg) in treatment to prevent further severe complications. The integrative review method was used to construct the review, resulting in five scientific articles that met the inclusion criteria. These articles were published in the last five years and available in full, in English and Spanish. Among the most frequently discussed topics, postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and hypovolemic shock were the most frequently cited, highlighting their main signs and symptoms that should be evaluated. The main problem of maternal death is classified as blood loss equal to or greater than 500 ml in vaginal deliveries and 1000 ml in cesarean sections, occurring in the first 24 hours after delivery, despite being considered potentially preventable in up to 93% of cases. It is concluded that continuous nursing observation and the use of Nasg are an important resource in the healthcare field, ensuring the maintenance and irrigation of the main organs in an emergency, thus gaining time for the best approach to patient treatment. Prior knowledge and training in the units are essential, thus saving more maternal lives.
