TERAPIA NUTRICIONAL ENTERAL NAS PRÁTICAS DE ALTA COMPLEXIDADE NO ÂMBITO HOSPITALAR

Abstract

Introduction: Enteral Nutrition Therapy is considered an important part of the treatment of critically ill patients in intensive care, due to the intense catabolism. However, several factors limit the full administration of the therapy to these patients. Methodology: This literature review includes studies published in the last twelve years with the objective of discussing the main factors that limit the administration of Enteral Nutrition Therapy. In the present study, factors such as: administration, adequacy of enteral diet, diarrhea and prescription were raised. The study consists of a literature review with analysis and discussion. Initially, research was carried out, through the search for material on the topic to be addressed. Results: The results of the studies suggest that Enteral Nutrition, when administered within 48 hours, has significant advances in the improvement of patients, considering all the data obtained through the review. Discussion: The following steps consisted of the categorization and evaluation of the studies, interpretation of the results and synthesis of knowledge. Six articles were included in the review for data extraction, being observed and analyzed and identifying the central ideas of each author, with the objective of constructing the categories of the work. Conclusion: Caring for critically ill patients continues to be the greatest challenge for all professionals working in Intensive Care Units. Therefore, nutritional adequacy represents a major challenge in the treatment of critically ill patients.
